Alubihod Beach (Guimaras)

Mar 12, 2008 Author: Pinoy Traveler | Filed under: Beaches, Guimaras

They say Alubihod Beach is the best beach in Guimaras. And it surely did not disappoint! Don’t worry about the oil spill since it’s in a different part of the island.

You can reach Guimaras by taking a boarding a pump-boat at the Ortiz Port near Ateneo de Iloilo. The ride is about 15 minutes and costs PHP11. At the Jordan Pier, you can arranged for a minicab to take you to Alubihod Beach (they have rates at the tourism office at the port based on distance). Or you can take a public jeep to Nueva Valencia, and from the town proper, take a tricycle to the beach.

Lagen, Miniloc resorts in El Nido win world’s green vote

Feb 5, 2008 Author: Pinoy Traveler | Filed under: Articles, Beaches, Palawan, Resorts

A prestigious international magazine has listed two Palawan resorts among the 20 most eco-sensitive hotels in the world.

In its January 2008 issue, Travel + Leisure, published by the American Express Co., included El Nido’s hotels in Miniloc and Lagen Islands on its roster of “conservation-minded places on a mission to protect the local environment.”

Travel + Leisure’s 20 Favorite Green Hotels highlighted El Nido Resort’s active participation in protecting Palawan’s giant-clam gardens and supporting the re-introduction of endangered Philippine cockatoos.

“Surrounded by 123,000 acres of protected forests, jagged limestone cliffs, and hidden lagoons, travelers to sister resorts El Nido Lagen Island and El Nido Miniloc Island can take their pick of daily activities: bird-watching, kayaking, rock climbing, or simply watching fish swim below one of the guest cottages-on-stilts, which are set above the crystalline ocean,” the magazine said.
